4thGordons Posted 30 May , 2009 Share Posted 30 May , 2009 Seph (or anyone else who can oblige) What was the original finish on 1907 blades produced at Ishapore during the great war? Were they bright? blued? other? Thanks in advance Chris
findabetterole Posted 31 May , 2009 Share Posted 31 May , 2009 The examples that I have are a polished finish [blued on the ricasso], and as far as I have been able research, that is how they first apeared (with quillion) in 1911. However, India also had an 1888 / converted 1903 pattern bayonet, and these we initially of blued blade. Seph

I just got a 1918 one - the finish on the ricasso and pommel is worn but was clearly once blued and the blade is bright - so that fits. All my WWII and later dated shortened ones are painted so I had nothing to compare it to . Chris
