NeilEvans Posted 18 May , 2009 Share Posted 18 May , 2009 Is an original copy of 'Croydon and the Great War 1920' worth keeping, i've no idea of its rarity, if any, or value. Neil
DMcNay Posted 18 May , 2009 Share Posted 18 May , 2009 Depends what you want to get out of it. I think it's a great bit of work, and would never part with my original copy. Can't remember how much I paid for it, but it was certainly cheaper than the N&MP reprint.
NeilEvans Posted 18 May , 2009 Author Share Posted 18 May , 2009 I like the book, some of the wording is brilliant. Just undecided, i'm look to sell off some stuff to help the mortgage deposit. Neil
SiegeGunner Posted 18 May , 2009 Share Posted 18 May , 2009 If you mean keeping as opposed to binning (surely not), then yes, it is certainly worth keeping. If you don't want to keep it yourself, original copies in good condition seem to sell for £35-45. Does it have a presentation plate signed by the Mayor on the inside cover? A copy seems to have been presented to the NOK of every man named in the casualty rolls. For those who are only interested in the book's content, it can be bought in reprint from N&M for £15 or from Barnes & Noble in the US for $75, or the original edition can be downloaded for free as an online 'flip book' here – http://openlibrary.org/b/OL7112891M/Croydo...d-the-Great-War Mick
NeilEvans Posted 18 May , 2009 Author Share Posted 18 May , 2009 Nope, not binning it. Over the years i've bought some WW1 related stuff that has no link to Shrops. debating whether or not to keep them. Neil
SiegeGunner Posted 18 May , 2009 Share Posted 18 May , 2009 They have lots of shops in Croydon, but not many Shrops ...
