Private William BELL of the 2nd Batt Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders

Number S/14766

Date of Death: 28/08/1916

THIEPVAL MEMORIAL

This much we now know from fellow forum members, medal index and census, but we still cannot find a connection with

the village of Orton in Westmorland

We find at in 1911 he was lodging in Leeds as a policeman, but a member states that he is not

on the two causalty lists of the relevant police forces in that area.

Could he be that he moved into our area prior to 1914.

Any help with regard to his record or even a picture would be gratefully received.

Thanks - the residence being Kendal is one of the reasons we feel we have found the correct William Bell this time.
