Ivatt Posted 11 May , 2009 Share Posted 11 May , 2009 Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone would be interested to have a look at my 'Battle of the Menin Rd' video. I've placed it on Youtube so others can view it and maybe get a better understanding of the horrors these men faced on a daily basis. Please excuse any inaccuracies with the photos / dates after all it is meant to be a memorial to all & one in particular who fell in that battle. Many thanks
Ken Lees Posted 11 May , 2009 Share Posted 11 May , 2009 An unusual yet fitting memorial. Very moving. Ken
Phil996 Posted 11 May , 2009 Share Posted 11 May , 2009 Hi Ivatt This is excellent - very poignant pictures and the whole thing enhanced by the music. I stayed at the Kastelhoff hotel at Hooge a couple of years ago - such a contrast between 1917 and today's peaceful scene. Best wishes Phil

phil andrade Posted 11 May , 2009 Share Posted 11 May , 2009 That had some impact. My wife, a teacher preparing her work, just looked over my shoulder at the screen, and said "Who sent that? How moving!" She knows very little about the Great War, but she's discerning and recognizes something special when she sees it. Phil.

Ian Riley Posted 11 May , 2009 Share Posted 11 May , 2009 Wonderful idea to use 'Nimrod' but the way you have edited and chosen the pictures is excellent (as well). Definitely one of the better Youtube efforts. Thank you very much. Perhaps you could tell us a bit about Ivatt Wright? Ian
john jerome mcmanus Posted 12 May , 2009 Share Posted 12 May , 2009 hi, enjoyed it very much, but will have to watch again with the sound on! mandy G'day Ivatt, I must do the same. Very nice compilation. My Grandfather, Pte 3892 J. McManus 2nd Battalion AIF was wounded (2nd occasion) on 16/9/17 as his unit was moving forward to take part in the battle of Menin Rd, a Blighty wound that saw him come home to Australia .
