cooper Posted 10 May , 2009 Share Posted 10 May , 2009 Hi all, just after a bit of advice if anyone could help? I am looking into a MM which was won by a member of the 50th Bn MGC. It was gazetted on March 11th 1919. Could anyone give me an average turnaround time if possible from when the soldier won it until it was gazetted, therefore helping to identify the action in which it was won. Many thanks in advance. Kind Regards, Cooper
Ken Lees Posted 10 May , 2009 Share Posted 10 May , 2009 It is very difficult to do this with any accuracy. It varied with the stage of the war, the nature of the award and many other things. Anything from two months to a year, I'd suggest, with three to four months being about 'normal'. Ken
Stebie9173 Posted 10 May , 2009 Share Posted 10 May , 2009 Up until 1917, 3 months was a reasonable starting point, but there we so many variables. With a March 1919 Gazette date I would be reasonably comfortable with starting to look at August/September 1918 dates. Steve.
