My great-uncle Samuel Barker was listed on the medal roll as being in the Cheshire Regiment. His number was 13566. Can anyone tell me which battalion he was in from his number??

Thanks

Stephen

Not sure if this is of any help or makes situation worse.Looking at SDGW

13567 Samuel Coombs served with the 10th Btn.

I'm sure an expert will help more than me :D

I did a search on Soldiers Died for 5-figure numbers beginning "135**" with the following results:

3 from 10th Bn

2 from 9th Bn

2 from 13th Bn

1 from 12th Bn

1 from 1st Bn and

1 from 1/5th Bn.

13567 was L/Cpl Samuel COOMBS from the 10th Bn kia 14/07/16 born and enlisted in Northwich.

Inconclusive I'm afraid.

This is really useful.

Samuel was from Northwich also! He was gassed in late 15 or early 16.

This is a great help.

Thanks
