Guest Geheime Feldpolizei Posted 4 April , 2004 Share Posted 4 April , 2004 Do any Forum members have information concerning German Wandervogel units serving in World War I? I have some information which suggests that young men (age 18 or so) volunteered for military service and went off to war as a sort of "Feldwandervogel" unit(s). I would appreciate any information or suggested primary or secondary source material concerning this topic. Many thanks for your suggestions. Neil Burns Posted 5 April , 2004 Share Posted 5 April , 2004 Hi, Not sure if this helps but I was under the impression that the Wandervogel was more of a youth movement between the wars tied into German traditional peasant type culture (or what was perceived as peasant culture) and involved hiking, camping and similar activities. I don't recall seeing a reference to it during World War I. Take care, Neil
