steve fuller Posted 14 April , 2009 Posted 14 April , 2009 Hi all Friend of mine's Grandfather was the above gent. I have his Medal Index Card & a colourised photograph of him but wondered if anyone could add details from war diaries or the like please? Lore has it that he was a Bn Intel officer, although I have yet to see this in writing anywhere. Have no info as to which Bn he served in at the moment either. I am also told that he was also injured and is recorded in a regimental memorial book as KIA, although he survived. Many thanks Pals.
jdwn1 Posted 14 April , 2009 Posted 14 April , 2009 Hi From the book Historical Records of the Cameron Highlanders Vol IV I can find only this mention of a Lt A Stevenson who was transferred to the 11th Service Battalion from the KOSB's on 23 June 1918. The 11th Battalion was in existence from 9th June 1918 until its disbandment on 1st June 1919. Interestingly this Lt. A C Stevenson from the KOSB's was among a group of Scottish officers transferred to give the Battallion a more 'Scottish character' in addition 221 English and Irish soldiers had to go!!! I dont know if he is the one you are looking for. Ian
PPCLI Posted 14 April , 2009 Posted 14 April , 2009 The KOSB officer is a different man - Alistair Comrie Stevenson. Still an interesting little snippet though. The 10th KOSB and 11th Camerons were originally Garrison Guard battalions; a lot of the 10th KOSB men were ex-Labour Corps or had been medically downgraded from other units. Like the 11th Camerons, there wasn't much of a Scottish flavour to the 10th KOSB. Stuart
