Grave Photo Request (The RCR in the Great War)

Recommended Posts

As part of an ongoing project on The Royal Canadian Regiment in the First World War, I'm seeking a few gravestone photos from each cemetery of RCR soldiers who are recorded as casualties of the War. I have a list of 177 cemeteries that hold RCR war dead, these are listed here, and a Google map of their locations can be found here.

The UK cemeteries I'm looking for photos from are listed below. I would appreciate any help if members are local to these cemeteries or may already have photos in their files.

I don't need a high resolution shot, as I'm posting the photos in a 300-pixel wide format, as shown here. Even a cell phone photo would be appreciated. Please let me know how you would like to be attributed for the photo once posted on line. Photos can be mailed to me at regimentalrogue@gmail.com.

Hello

I can do the one in Essex (Dagenham) for you as that is quite close to me, I can probably get the ones in London, Middlesex and Surrey too, but probably not for some time. I think most of those cemetries are on my list of ones to visit for my own purposes!

If you get them before I go not to worry

Regards

Andy

regimentalrogue, I live quite close to Lodge Hill Cemetary, in Selly Oak, Birmingham, so if you do not already have one, I will try to get a shot or two of the grave/memorial, of Sgt Frank Laycock, No 440734. If at all possible, I`ll do my best this week, ok.

Hi

I have been to Croydon (Mitcham Road) Cemetery today and will soon email you the photo of the gravestone of Sgt Wilkinson. It was an interesting visit as the CWGC reference is not correct and the office staff at the Cemetery were very interested and very helpful and showed me the original book entry from 1919 and eventually they identified the grave position. I will scan the revised cemetery details and email it along with the photo
