I have a C Dawson Private BR on the memorial I am researching, the "C" could be mis-enscribed so broading my search a little. What I have upto now: CWGC Name: DAWSON, GEORGE Initials: G Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Private Regiment/Service: Border Regiment Unit Text: 1st Bn. Date of Death: 01/07/1916 Service No: 16604 Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Pier and Face 6 A and 7 C. Memorial: THIEPVAL MEMORIAL Extra info given from SDGW Born Salford Enlisted Manchester Residence Salford Any additional information would be much appreciated. Cheers, Garry
River97 Posted 10 April , 2009 Posted 10 April , 2009 Garry, George Dawson has a MIC at Ancestry. He was a Private in the 10th Battalion, Border Regiment. Entitled to the 1914-15 Star, BWM and Victory. He entered France on 8 December 1915. Cheers Andy.

There's a Private CECIL DAWSON 7741 Border Regiment on Ancestry, born c 1889 Hargate House, Fleet, Lincolnshire He attested 21.07.1915 To France 02.02.1917 until 24.04.1917 Home 25.04.1917 until he died (meningitis?) 22.08.17 He's also on CWGC - secondary Regiment Pay Corps. buried at Fleet, Lincs. Give me a shout if you want the Ancestry stuff. Andy
