Morning all

One of the lads on the Purton Memorial HE Martin, is also commemorated on the Memorial in St Margaret Patterns Church SE London for HM Submarine K4.

John Harrison at the Church is trying to get as much info on the lads named so he can put the details on a WEB page. If anyone can help it would be great, I can either pass on the details or you can e-mail me & I can give you a contact e-mail for John. I have posted this in both the naval & Memorial pages for the widest possible viewing for those who may be interested.

HMS K4

31 January 1918

Sank in Forth Estuary after collision with HMS K6

On 31st January 1918 HMS K4 left harbour bound for a North Sea exercise. In what became known as the Battle of May Island a number of submarines were lost. Several collisions occurred, including K6 colliding with K4. So great was the collision that K4 was cut almost in two and sank immediately with the loss of all onboard.

Many thanks, i am sure any material will help John in his research & WEB page

Spoons, i have carried out a small amount of research ref K4 regarding Mr Herbert & i think John has already got the basics of the collision & sinking, i think now he is after more details for the crew if possible.

Many thanks for your help
