Guest Posted 5 April , 2009 Share Posted 5 April , 2009 Soren, at last!!! A horse!!! And so beautifully done. The line of the forelegs are so eloquent, and the the muzzle explains all. I've waited along time for this. Knew you could. Thank you. Off to get the tissues. Kim

Steven Broomfield Posted 14 May , 2009 Share Posted 14 May , 2009 I think the memorial referred to is the 58th (2/1st London) Division memorial on the Somme.

auchonvillerssomme Posted 14 May , 2009 Share Posted 14 May , 2009 Lovely picture, presumably inspired by: http://s551.photobucket.com/albums/ii454/a...nt=DSC_0046.jpg
Guest Posted 14 May , 2009 Share Posted 14 May , 2009 Yep, knew it straight away, got photos of me crying bucket loads in front of it. But Soren has, in putting it in black and white, drawn a new emotion to it. The artists lines making it starker, and more painful, - if -that could ever be. It just hits harder, somehow. charlesmessenger Posted 14 May , 2009 Share Posted 14 May , 2009 There is also the contemporary drawing by Fortuninio Matania and entitled Good-Bye, Old Man, which may well have inspired the 58 Div memorial. The ethos of your drawing, Soren, is also reflected in the play War Horse, currently running in London's West End (see separate thread on this and also under Culture). Guest Posted 15 May , 2009 Share Posted 15 May , 2009 Thanks to Boomers, I have a copy of Goodbye Old Man above my desk. My eyes are often drawn to it. Micheal, I never picked up on that. I see what you mean. (My eyes go to the horse, everytime.) Cheers Kim
