Angular Posted 2 April , 2009 Share Posted 2 April , 2009 Can anyone help me with a query regarding the likely appearance of a soldier of the 9th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers in 1917 or 1918? I've tried searching this forum but without success, and the sources I've looked at aren't specific enough. Unfortunately I don't know which company my great-grandad was in, but I know he served with that battalion throughout his service.
ralphjd Posted 2 April , 2009 Share Posted 2 April , 2009 The 9th Battalion insignia was a yellow oblong with the roman numerals II in the centre, Yellow was the colour of the 34th infantry brigade and the II indicated that the 9th L Fs was the second senior unit in it. Hope this helps. Ralph.
