Brian Curragh Posted 2 April , 2009 Share Posted 2 April , 2009 Anything up at Vimy Ridge on 9th is its 92nd anniversary Wayne Wayne Just found this on the Canadian Veteran Affairs site : "On April 9, 2009 at 7:30 p.m., a Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the Vimy Ridge National Historic Site of Canada in France to mark the 92nd anniversary of the Battle of Arras, and the efforts of Canadian soldiers in the capture of Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917. Members of the public are invited to attend and pay their respects to all those who served Canada in the First World War and to those who continue to serve their country today. Please arrive before 7:00 p.m." Will have to see if I can make this so might see you there (wearing my badge!). Brian

Brian Curragh Posted 10 April , 2009 Share Posted 10 April , 2009 Wayne Good to meet you yesterday at the Remembrance Ceremony at Vimy. It was a great evening for it and particularly moving to hear the Last Post from the Menin Gate buglers echoing out over the plain. Good to see the CWGC there but a shame there was no official British representation. Cheers Brian
warbuff1 Posted 11 April , 2009 Share Posted 11 April , 2009 Hi Brian Great to meet you too. Just arrived home missing it already. Very moving ceremony and evening glad we attended. Will be writing an e mail to No 10 and talking with local MP to raise in House of Commons as to why no one attended from British govt/military as we saw French,Australian, Canadian,Moroccon,Belgian and even German contingents there.
