Thinking of one of my Maldon chaps:

Private (10116) Walter Arthur PETCHEY, Essex Regiment (2nd Battalion)

Born in Stock. Lived in Maldon. Enlisted in Maldon.

Killed in action 1/4/1915

Calvaire Military Cemetery (I.L.7)

RIP

Does anyone know anything of the circumstances?

Regards.

War diary has:

"Relieved in trenches by Monmouths. Casualties 1 Killed"

March 31st entry:

"Quiet up till 9 pm when heavy sniping commenced which lasted on and off all night. Casualties 4 wounded." March's diary is signed and dated "Le Bizet"
