Jonathan_NW Posted 30 March , 2009 Share Posted 30 March , 2009 Hi all I have posted previously about my Great Great Uncle, Robert Tetlow. When I started to search for his military service all I had was his name. Now, several posts later I have identified him. 18453 Private Robert Tetlow of the South Lancashire Regiment. First can I thank everyone who has helped especially members Melpack and Mike Shingleton. Thanks to their efforts in narrowing down the list of potentials my dad found confirmation of his identity today at the Bolton Archive Centre. He is listed in the April 16th, 1915 edition of the Bolton Journal in the weekly column naming those newly enlisted 'Rally to the Flag' and was residing at the same address as stated on the 1911 census...bingo! Now all I have to do is find which Battalion he served with? Does anyone have access to the medal rolls for the South Lancs? Even if his service record has survived Ancestry have not yet released the records of surnames beginning with 'T' and I can't afford a researcher to go into Kew at the present time! Again, I thank everyone for the kind comments and ideas they have offered to help me get this far. Regards Jonathan.
sotonmate Posted 30 March , 2009 Share Posted 30 March , 2009 Jonathan You should try to post the Medal Index Card here (download from Ancestry UK) so that the medal issue data is available in order to track down the relevant WO329 (original medal roll) ledger at Kew.
