Yesterday I visited Zelobes Indian Cemetery.

All the graves have either of the following inscriptions:

Does anyone know what they mean.

Thanks,

No.1 is for Hindus and says in Sanskrit

Oom Bhagwattee Nammo

No.2 is for Sikhs, written in Gurmukhi (Old Punjabi)

Ek Onkar

Siri Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sanskare Gaye

AFAIK, both the above mean something like "God is One - His is the Victory".

Nos.3 and 4, I don't know, but they are for Muslim dead and I think they come from the Koran and mean something similar to the above. Maybe Urdu, Balochi or Pashto?

The inscriptions appear to be very similar to the three Indian graves that

are in the Ari Burnu cemetery at Anzac Cove.

A young lady from the Sub-Continent translated them for me and she says

that in English they say.

'IN THE NAME OF GOD

MOST GRATIOUS AND MOST COMPASSIONATE"
