Did the Lincolnshire Regiment experiment with cloth shoulder titles before WW1? I am particularly interested to know if the territorial battalions did so.

Zippy,

I have a woven white on red curved title 'LINCOLN' that I belive was worn on the SD tunic pre 1914-sorry can't post a pic as I am in away on the Queen's business till Oct.

Mark

Zippy,

I'm interested in the same question. I believe that this is a Lincolns Sergeant (from either 1910 or 1912) and could be 4th or 5th Battn of the North Midland Division

The pattern service dress with twisted cords on the shoulder was introduced in 1903; and withdrawn in 1908 (as were cloth titles in favour of metal ones).

Best wishes,

He also belongs to one one of the Linc's Volunteer Battalions and is wearing a matching cloth numeral above a cloth letter 'V'.

The title I have in my collection is identical in construction to the one Mike shows in the picture, I cant tell the colours though. Mark
