Guest KevinEndon Posted 22 March , 2009 Posted 22 March , 2009 Urell, Albert Edward Easter is buried in Cannock Chase War Cemetery and died aged 16. His rank is BOY. I have seen the rank of Boy on naval records but not on army ones, could someone tell me please what the duties of a BOY was within the RGA. Many thanks in advance Kevin
joseph Posted 22 March , 2009 Posted 22 March , 2009 Kevin He would be enlisted as a trumpeter, tailor, shoemaker or saddler. Regards Charles
Ron Clifton Posted 23 March , 2009 Posted 23 March , 2009 And he would have been enlisted under 18. All new entrants to the Army under that age were classified as Boys rather than Privates, Gunners etc. and were trained for their specialist roles, as Charles says. Ron
old-ted Posted 23 March , 2009 Posted 23 March , 2009 Charles/Ron, thanks for that. It's made it clearer for me too. & Kevin, thanks for asking the question. Regards John
