Regulus 1 Posted 18 March , 2009 Share Posted 18 March , 2009 On the 28th may 1918 their plane crashed burning at the small village of Stalhille, shot down by Flugmeister Bieber of the Seefrontstaffel Nieuwmunster. They were flying a DH9 B7674 of 98 Sqdn. Both are buried at Stalhille Churchyard, and a special Remembrance service will be held on the 25th of April. I used to have all sorts of photos of the crash and the funeral, but I seem to have mislaid them. My great aunt Beth went over to find his grave and wound up marrying in the UK where she remained the rest of her life. I have photos of Fred at home with family. I wish I could find the others. I also had his Memorial Penny. I suspect it was taken in a home robbery a decade ago. Here is a photo I have of Fred on the left and Lt. Hall on the right.
