HMS Bellerophon

Can anyone help with any information on this ship?

I have come accross 3 postcards with 'Souvenir of the great war', on them and three names 'W C Davies', 'W Kellow' and 'C Martin'. There is also a mention of the battle of Jutland on 2 of them, with the name of the ship.

What are these cards? I have never seen any before are they common?

Any help with any of these questions will be appreciated.

Dreadnought Battleship of the Bellerophon Class of 18,000 tons launched 1907, armed with 10 x 12 inch guns, 16 x 4 inch guns and 3 x 18 inch torpedoes. She was in 4th Battle Squadron.

Fought at Jutland and ironically broken up in Germany in 1921.

CWGC shows a W C DAVIES and a W KELLOW Royal Navy but whether they are the same would be pure conjecture.

Hi David,

I just put the names into the Commonwealth Wargraves search database at www.cwgc.org to see if there was anything.

4th Battle Squadron was based at Rosyth Naval Base on the Firth of Forth.

Good luck with your research.
