St George Medal & St George Cross

The Russian "St George Medal" and "St George Cross" each carries its own specific number.

Medals issued by Order of the Caucasian Army (in South Russia), under authority of Lt Gen Baron Peter Wrangel, were well documented.

Does anyone know if records of these awards still survive ?

hope all is well. I'm currently getting similar items as you, but in the Naval field. Yes there is a good chance you can find something via their archives. I have a few contacts that could help. One mod will charge you 100 US dollars for the initial seach, then 20 US an hour with 3.5 US per document.

At least 1,000,000 plus of St. George's Crosses were issued by the Imperial Government August 1914 to Spring 1917. These were supposed to be promulgated in both official army orders and the semi-official military newspaper "RUSSKI INVALID." However I have never seen copies of this last named periodical. It is possible that at some point though that this periodical aong with others will be digitized.

According to information recently received - Much information on serial numbers and dates of issue should be listed in "St George Archives" (several volumes) by Ivan Tyulenev (Russian Text) and "Orders & Medals of Imperial Russia" by Dimitri Romanov (English Text).

My interest lies with the Russian Civil War period and have been advised to look out for "Russian Imperial Awards of the Civil War Period" and "Awards & Badges of The White Army and Governments of the Russian Civil War" by Alexander Rudichenco.
