I know the standard description of the award of the SWB. However I have a couple of questions;

After it was instituted in late-1916, was the award retrospective and, if so, was it given posthumously to men who died between being discharged and the inauguration date?

Typically how long would the delay have been between being discharged and recieving the SWB?

Why am I finding men who were discharged under para 392(xvi) of KR who don't appear to have received the award?

Although qualification was automatic as long as the man met certain criteria, it had to be claimed. That may explain the gaps.
