okl18 Posted 16 March , 2009 Posted 16 March , 2009 Hi I am trying to research which divisions my grandfather served under and where he was deployed in WW1...plus any other info ? All I know -from his medal record card -is that his regimental numbers were 41641 West Yorks Regiment and 93791 Durham Light Infantry Is anyone able to give me a steer on where I can look / research further - especially within the excellent Long Long trail site Many thanks Phil

per ardua per mare per terram Posted 27 March , 2009 Posted 27 March , 2009 Have you tried this helpful section: http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/grandad.htm The medal rolls might reveal his battalions with both regiments.

Ady Thanks for your interest and reply to my query Ady I haven't been able to access the MIC on Ancestry but I did get his medal card from National Archives which does state Yorks Regiment and DLI, which I have attached. He wasn't a North east lad. He lived in Moorside which is on the outskirts of Oldham in Lancashire, but next to Saddleworth which was then in West Riding of Yorkshire. Does this help at all ?
