Some Gallantry Awards

Dear all,

Can anyone please help explain why the following (Maldon) men received these Gallantry Awards:

DSO - 2nd. Lieut. R.C. Finch (London Rgt.) died 5/11/18 and Major C.H.L. Beatty (Royal Warwickshire Rgt.) died 17/5/17.

DCM - Sgt. D.W. Dines (KRRC) died 18/12/1919

MC - 2nd. Lieut. J. Hobbs (Royal Scots) died 28/6/15

MM - Private S.W. South (Essex) died 18/8/17; Sgt. C.E. Clark (London) died 22/3/18; Corporal A. Creasey (Essex) died 12/10/16

Medal Millitare - Corporal A.E. Eves (RFA) died 12/6/18; PO E.A. Finch (RN) died 24/1/18

Dines has one of those misleading Labour Corps MICs that doesn't actually show some of his service.

His DCM was with the Buffs (East Kents) in the London Gazette of 11-3-1916, and has the most brief of citations possible:

5957 Regimental Serjeant-Major D. W. Dines, 2nd Battalion,,East Kent Regiment.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.
