" of the 50,000 Empire troops killed on the opening day of the battle of Passchendaele, the town hall Spandau and it's stable-mates reaped the bloody harvest" ??

50,000?

Is it a Spandau, wasn't it made by Man?

I know of someone who would love one of these, where could one get one , and what would it cost?

Cheers Mike

what idiots do they get to write this drivel? 50'000? what!?, are we talking 31 july? or passchendale 26 october? he talks about an mg/08 15, but then has a different MG (mg 08) in the photo, as more casualities were caused by artillery than machine guns what is this idiot on about? Spandau? one of many places tha made mg o8 and mg08/15...i'm off for a cup of tea!

I think that, technically, the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele is 12/10/17 but the writer seems to have confused Ypres with the Somme and killed with casualties.

It's a feature article in a local newspaper, written after minimal research by someone who has no depth of knowledge, and probably to meet a deadline.

What else can we expect? :o

Could it refer to victims of a different Empire - the Russians perhaps?
