larney Posted 12 March , 2009 Posted 12 March , 2009 Hi, In case anyone else is looking for the same person; I am researching the 24th Welsh, and have found one man who was killed at Gillemont Farm who is not commemorated on the CWGC, 320155 Private Edward Rockingham. He is named on the War Memorial at Abergwili, near Carmarthen, and his MIC is available through Ancestry. Plus he is on SDGW. Today I received a copy of his death certificate from the GRO, and have just contacted the CWGC to let them know. I will update the situation when I know more. SteveJ.
clive_hughes Posted 12 March , 2009 Posted 12 March , 2009 Steve, is he also on the Carmarthenshire roll as published after the War? LST_164
welshdoc Posted 12 March , 2009 Posted 12 March , 2009 no sign under roc or rock pity Geofs search engine is no longer as you could do a number search. So looks like a clear cut non com unless the name is very badly mispelt
larney Posted 12 March , 2009 Author Posted 12 March , 2009 Yes, he is on that also Clive. Cheers, Steve.
1690philip Posted 12 March , 2009 Posted 12 March , 2009 Brilliant work Steve, I am very interested to find the outcome. I will most certainly be following this thread. Good luck. Phil
John_Hartley Posted 12 March , 2009 Posted 12 March , 2009 Steve I've been able to weave the "special magic" that's available to me through the In From The Cold Project and also cannot find him in CWGC (searched on number and likely permutations of surname). Make sure you only send a copy of the death certificate to CWGC. They'll send it on to the MoD. Should only take a couple of weeks or so until you get the acceptance. John

John Is it worth sending the census details, so that a little extra information can be added, or won't they accept that? Thanks all for your comments also! SteveJ.
John_Hartley Posted 12 March , 2009 Posted 12 March , 2009 Steve I think they'll only accept next of kin details from a descendent (and not always then). But you might as well bang it off to them anything you've got. John
