Today I received the long awaited birth certificate on my Grandfather, he was in fact born Harry James Tucker, his named changed to Robert, I'm not sure when. It would be some time before he married in 1908 as from then on he is Robert. Mum suddenly remembered a conversation her Mother had with someone saying that Robert's name was really "Harry" so I followed this lead up and it proved correct. At least I now have his birth date and the family, doesnt help with his regimental details though as he was using the name Robert permantely by then, but at least I have my family tree.
