Somerset

These two men are supposed to have gone from Fiji and served in the war. They could be brothers. They are not in the Australian or NZ armies, or the Fiji Defence force.so are probably in British regiments. I cannot find either of them anywhere on the Internet, in Familysearch. FreeBMD, or the 1881 census

I can't find Thomas Ivor Somerset. MC , in the London Gazette

Could someone look in a later census for either of them, and also in databases of regiments? Pretty please? :)

I looked at 1901 census, there are a couple of likely Thomas's one 10 (Warrington)the other 11 (Shoreditch) years old, there is no mention of a Douglas Somerset.

Does anyone have access to the 1891 census, or information about the Irish rifles?

Christine:

There is a Forum member named: curranl who appears to have a big interest in Irish Units (the Royal Irish Rifles being one) and may be able to help you.
