JMP180 Posted 9 March , 2009 Posted 9 March , 2009 I recently obtained my great grandfathers mountain battery diary which was written while he was in Iraq from 1917-1919. This could well be the first of a few questions relating to this but to start with, some of the soldiers were taken ill while there but they are listed as B.O.R or I.O.R. What are these two abbreviations short for? Thanks Jon
daggers Posted 9 March , 2009 Posted 9 March , 2009 Could it be POR - several posts about this, suggesting Pyrexia of unknown origin. I.e., MO is baffled! D
jhill Posted 9 March , 2009 Posted 9 March , 2009 Once again, the great Satan of acronyms and cryptic abbreviations has struck! I think that before computers were invented we had to rely on the military to devise these infernal monstrocities of human miscommunication! My guess would be (British) Other Ranks and (Indian) Other Ranks.
JMP180 Posted 10 March , 2009 Author Posted 10 March , 2009 Thanks all. Might have some more for you in abit!!! Jon.
