One of Mums Brothers was serving in the 53rd ... but luckily he managed to escape the massacre, stole a Motorcycle, and made it to Dunkirk, where he spent his 21st Birthday on the Beaches where he was evacuated, and finally disembarked at Folkestone.

Chris,

like an idiot i did not print off your instructions for the memorial so never located it, however whilst looking for it I stumbled across the Great War Bunkers which were interesting! Will have to return to the area again.

Peter,

glad to have helped.

PBI,

thank you for the extra info, wonderful story of your Mum's brother!

Stu,

great photo, thank you for sharing it with me/us!

all though I have visited the Salient countless times I have only ever 'driven' through Kemmel, however on a future trip I intend to have a good look/walk around as it looks really interesting, thank you all for alerting me to the other bits and pieces which really adds to the trip!

Regards and best wishes,

Scottie.
