PBI Posted 14 March , 2009 Share Posted 14 March , 2009 One of Mums Brothers was serving in the 53rd ... but luckily he managed to escape the massacre,stole a Motorcycle,and made it to Dunkirk,where he spent his 21st Birthday on the Beaches where he was evacuated,and finally disembarked at Folkestone. Will have to return to the area again. Peter, glad to have helped. PBI, thank you for the extra info, wonderful story of your Mum's brother! Stu, great photo, thank you for sharing it with me/us! all though I have visited the Salient countless times I have only ever 'driven' through Kemmel, however on a future trip I intend to have a good look/walk around as it looks really interesting, thank you all for alerting me to the other bits and pieces which really adds to the trip!
