Thanks Steve, really great!

I had never seen a picture of my great uncle and learned a whole lot I was unaware of before.

You are a trooper to make all these look ups.

Hi Steve,

Would you be kind enough to see if you can find an an entry for:

Lt. Donald Halliday MACARTNEY, 802, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, KIA at The Battle of the Scarpe, 26 Aug 1918.

I have never found a photo of him, but I live in hope!

Thanks for your time,

Stuart

Stephen, This is very kind of you. I am looking for a photo of Clive Harold Halse, 2nd Lt, RFC who was shot down in France on 24th April 1917. He was missing for some months and then his body was found and is buried at Hennechy. He was a South African but I think his family would have given a photo to the London News because they went to England at the time.

Heres holding thumbs.

He died on 6 Jul 1918 near Arras while serving with 10th Bn Middlesex (attached 8th), and was buried in Dainville Cemetery. He was the only son of Solon and Fannie Greenwood, of 24, Palace Court, London.

Stuart,

I had a look through the Illustrated London News (and The Sphere) and couldn't see a reference to him. I would suggest going down the schools route if you have his Canadian papers to confirm where he was educated.

Steve
