Hi Guys I have posted on here before but for some reason I could

not retrive my account information. You can find me mainly

over on WW2talk.com. I recently saved some paperwork

relating to a soldier in the 2nd Bn The York & Lancaster Regt from

certain destruction.

An overall picture of the collection

I would like to try and find as much information as possible about this regiment

and its movements, can his service records be obtained from Kew? I have attached scans of some of the over documents and photos.

Hi there Kieron,

I have found his MIC which states he was in the 8th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment 9813 a/sjt, 4736290 serjeant, he was awarded the Victory and British medals and also the GSM, Gsm/Y&LR/1.33 & clasp NW Persia, looks like this was award in 1933.

I will have a deeper look at the 8th Battalion if nobody beats me to it.

Cheers Roger.

Hi again Kieron,

The 8th battalion was in the 70th Brigade of the 23 division, if you go to the title page and scroll down until you come to British Divisions click it open then scroll down until you come to the 23rd Division and you will see a fairly comprehensive history of them.

That way is easier than me typing it all out, unless you get stuck.

Cheers Roger.

Hi there Kieron,

You can get a look at the Medal Index Card if you are a Ancestry.co.uk member you can view it for nowt but have to pay to down load it.

I'm not that clever as to link things together, but I will see what I can do at downloading it or unless some kind soul can help out.

Very nice that presentation plague, and he just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and it looks as though he stayed on in the army to end up in India.

Cheers Roger.
