On the thread mentioning female casualties, Sister Wood is mentioned as winning the MM as a result of her actions when Nellie Spindler was killed.

Would anyone have any info on this action or Sister Wood.?

You may wish to contact the Imperial War Museum about Sister Wood. A few years ago they had an exhibition about women and gallantry medals, including WW1 MM's.

In Pauls book on Walking the Salient he mentions her, but little else... 'she behaved splendidly'

The event took place 21st August 1917 when shelling occured by the railway alongside the camp.. 44th CCS at Brandhoek.
