ianw Posted 21 February , 2009 Share Posted 21 February , 2009 I understand the 8th Hussars had a mounted action (I don't think they actually charged) with the Germans on 30/11/17. The Hon Major Ryder (B Squadron?) died in the action and is commemorated on a local war memorial at Headley. We know that 2 maxims were captured and believe they still grace the RIH mess steps.
