myvoodoochild Posted 20 February , 2009 Share Posted 20 February , 2009 My Great Grandfather, John March, fought with the Durham Light Infantry (No. 4634), then the Northumberland Fusiliers (No. 35321) and then on to the Royal Defence Corps (No. 93310) in World War One. I am just wondering what experiences would have been like and maybe what Battalians he was in. Regards, Martin

SMG65 Posted 20 February , 2009 Share Posted 20 February , 2009 Martin Do you know his battalions? Myself and others can help a lot if you know hs battalions. Have you checked his medal card? Sean
myvoodoochild Posted 21 February , 2009 Author Share Posted 21 February , 2009 Unfortunately I don't know his Battalions. I'm trying to find them out. I know which Regiments/Corps he was in and his Army numbers but I'm stuck with his Battalions. I have a copy of his Medal Roll Index but that doesn't tell me anything I don't already know. Any suggestions? Martin
SMG65 Posted 21 February , 2009 Share Posted 21 February , 2009 Does his medal card state the date that he went overseas, this could narrow down the battalions he could have served with. Sean
myvoodoochild Posted 22 February , 2009 Author Share Posted 22 February , 2009 His medal card doesn't say where he fought in WW1 but I've been told by relatives he fought in France.
