Cliff. Hobson Posted 25 March , 2004 Share Posted 25 March , 2004 The Machine Gun Corps created 22nd October 1915, completed by the Battle of the Somme, I wish to find out what the above Company was doing and where on the 16th Sept., 1916 during the Batttle of the Somme. As most Machine Gun Companys took their number from the Brigade they were attached to, regret I cannot find 43 Brigade details. The above named Pte Willies served previously with the Sherwood Foresters before the Machine Gun Corps was created. he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, any suggestions wold be appreciated. Thanks Cliff.
hmsk212 Posted 25 March , 2004 Share Posted 25 March , 2004 Cliff 43rd MGC were with 43rd Brigade as part of 14th Division. They were probably at the "Battle of Fleurs - Courcelette" on 16th September 1916. Steve
