hi all could someone be kind enough to do a mic look up for a W.S Popperwell london regiment. reg number 1989.

thank you dave, thats some great information. i visited a memorial in hackney today and just starting my research on the men of hackney wick serving with 1/10th london regiment. dont mean to be cheeky but would it be possible for you to look up a 1696 J burling. london reg, KIA 09/12/1914. the battalion had not yet enterd the war so was curious to know where he died as he is buried in brompton cemetry chelsea.

Sorry about the delay.

'T' (not 'J') Thomas Burling shown on SDGW as Enlisted: Hackney, Resided: Victoria Park, Died: at Home.

His papers survived WW2. From Ancestry he attested 28.9.14 and died in St. Marks Hospital on 9.12.14 (75 days service).

Parents Edward & Harriett lived at 78 Chapman Rd., Victoria Park and a brother George is shown as KIA 1914. Physical development: Fair.
