NigelS Posted 10 February , 2009 Share Posted 10 February , 2009 Hi Andy If you haven't already tried it, the Surrey History Centre would be a good place to try: http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/surreyhistorycentre Always very helpful; if they don't have them, or know their where abouts, chances are they haven't survived. bootneck Posted 11 February , 2009 Share Posted 11 February , 2009 Andy The only Surrey Absent Voters' Lists which survive are for the (London) Borough Constituencies, not the County Constituencies. These Borough AVLs are not held at the Surrey History Centre. There are a number of threads on this topic on the Forum. regards Bootneck
Ally Sloper Posted 12 February , 2009 Share Posted 12 February , 2009 Unfortunately there are no Absent Voters Lists for most of Surrey as such. Those serving in the armed forces are to be found in the main electoral registers for 1918, and there is an "a" for absent by their name and 'NM' for navy or military. No details of service, i.e. regiment or number are given. I hope this helps. Ally
