frankontour@co.uk Posted 5 February , 2009 Share Posted 5 February , 2009 Hi, My grandfarther was transfared from the east york's to the york's n lanc's at some point during 1914-1918. His reg't number was (34527) when he transfared to the yorks and lanc's, his name was Thomas Morris. Any help with what the numbering system would be for this battalion, would be of great help? Many thank's. Frank.
sotonmate Posted 5 February , 2009 Share Posted 5 February , 2009 Frank It might help if you posted his full name (or initials),people here might be able to help more if they know that too. Was 34527 his EYR number or the Y&LR number ? Sotonmate

Roger Thompson Posted 5 February , 2009 Share Posted 5 February , 2009 Frank, Upon a first quick check it appears that his service record as not survived the Blitz unless Thomas Morris was born in Liverpool. Cheers Roger.

Roger Thompson Posted 5 February , 2009 Share Posted 5 February , 2009 Hi Frank, Thanks for that, it confirms that I was looking at the wrong one(service record), had another look but cant find him, but then again I'm tired and maybe better Pals than me might find what I'm missing. Only about a third of the 6 million or so records survived the blitz, but one thing I have noticed is that there where a bunch of guys transferred into the Y&L's together so it looks like they where replacements. Good hunting in the future,we are always here to try and help. Cheers Roger.
