Great War movies - critiques & reviews

I recently caught up with Peter Weir's "Gallipoli" (Mel Gibson etc) - and wanted to see what the reaction had been on the Forum to the film's treatment of the action being featured (the Light Horse attack on The Nek) - in particular, as I am not at all well read on the topic, how accurate the portrayal of the characters & events were.

But I cannot find (via Search) any apparent threads on the film - or on "A Very Long Engagement" as another example - on the presumption that these films were discussed - have the threads been lost over time?

If anyone can comment on the accuracy of "Gallipoli" - I would be interested to hear their thoughts.

Regards

Brian

Mare's nest there, Gallipoli by Peter Weir.

There is a thread about films, another more savvy person might provide the link.

Another film is The Light Horsemen.

And a mini series, The Anzacs.

That's what I suspected - and wanted to read. Hopefully someone can point me at the thread.

There was a suggestion a while ago that there might be a separate Forum section for film discussions.

I wonder if it might be rethought: the Culture Pages might be a suitable slot for a sub-Forum, possibly.

Reviews of 'Gallipoli' here (search terms +Gallipoli +film) and reviews of 'A Long Engagement' here (search terms "long engagement").

Before the Culture Pages forum was set up, film reviews tended to appear under Books etc.

Thanks - not exactly where I would have looked! I also agree with Mr Broomfield that a movie sub-forum would be a more obvious repository...
