Hi

I was wondering if someone could help me understand the service record of the above named man. First picture shows his service from joing the RNAS in 1917 until his transfer to the RAF in 1918.

RNAS His Majesty's Ship President II which was a depot ship/ shore establishment that handled the administration for RNAS units. There are several threads on the forum about it.

Crystal Palace was used for training. There are several threads on the forum about it.

Tregantle in Cornwall, an RNAS base.

Cranwell, RNAS Training Establishment later used by the RAF.

Lowestoft, fishing port and RNAS station.

RAF Yarmouth aka Great Yarmouth as above

Lowestoft spelt as Lowestoff

Transfer to 73 Wing cancelled.

Moved to Roehampton 7 December 1918. This was the principle Kite Balloon base.

Are there any medals recorded on his RAF service record? If not you need to look at the Naval medal roll on microflim at the UK National Archives in ADM 171/114 (surnames Ron-Sib). He qualified for at least a British War Medal.

Thank you for that. It was 'Tregantle' and 'Roehampton' that were giving me trouble. I have a copy of the medal roll and he was entitled to the BWM only.

Thanks Again

Conor

The RN & RNAS could qualify for a singleton BWM enev if the only served in the UK.
