mamk1 Posted 31 January , 2009 Share Posted 31 January , 2009 My grandfather spend time in Soltau PoW camp from his capture in June 1917 until repatriation in March 1919. He send several postcards home including this one of a group of men I am told are mainly from the Sherwood Foresters. It is signed on the front "Sincerely Yours K.G.Wallis" and on the back it says "With all best wishes to my Gefangenen friend". I've no idea whether they ever managed to meet up after the war. Anyway I thought I'd share it with the board, and one day when I have more time perhpas do a little research into who K.G.Wallis was and where he came from. My grandfather was in the 9th Black Watch and having transferred to the RFC was shot down on the wrong side of the front.
