eirridia Posted 25 January , 2009 Share Posted 25 January , 2009 I'm trying to track down two family members, Robert and Walter Rhodes of Holbeck, Leeds, Yorkshire. Robert was born 1895 and Walter, his elder brother, in 1888. (I have the 1911 census data) On the CWGC site there's a Robert, 8655, 2Bn KOYLI, KIA 26/10/14 and there's a Walter, 14729, 9Bn KOYLI, KIA 27/09/15. Unfortunately there's no age given for either of these men, though I guess I'd be surprised if Robert was an Old Contemptible at the age of 19. Any assistance with these names would be greatly appreciated. Malcolm
sotonmate Posted 25 January , 2009 Share Posted 25 January , 2009 M You could get someone to check the Soldiers Died in the Great War (SDGW) there may be a confirmation there. He doesn't have to be old to be an Old Contemptible ! It was "just" a name given to our Army by the opposition. Sotonmate
