The Inspector Posted 24 January , 2009 Share Posted 24 January , 2009 Hi all Just found a 5 times gt.uncle who is commemorated D15 Maubeuge Centre Cemetery. K.I.A 6.11.18 He was, according to his MIC, Acting Cpl with 1st/5th East Lancs. Regt. Can anyone tell me where he would have been on that day? sotonmate Posted 24 January , 2009 Share Posted 24 January , 2009 Barry Did you read the Cemetery Details from the CWGC site http://www.cwgc.org for the MAUBEURGE-CENTRAL CEMETERY ? If not at the bottom of the page it says that 29 soldiers of the 1/5 East Lancs were brought in from another cemetery which was closed by concentrating the burials from 6 and 7.11.1918 where they are now. The previous cemetery,PETIT BAVAY Brit Cemetery is likely to be the direct area where they fought and died. That is about 20 kms NNE of Le Cateau on the D932 to BAVAY and equidistant to MONS.
