harkerr@btinternet.com Posted 21 January , 2009 Author Share Posted 21 January , 2009 Hi Ady Trying to find a bit more out about his service for his daughter who gave me the 3900 number. I believe this was from some postcards she has, possibly written in 1915. I have downloaded the MIC, cannot find service records. Am I right in thinking the 2/5th were raised in Cleckheaton area? I presume from the 3900 no. he was an original volunteer into the 2nd WR Divn? I will check tomorrow and get back to you regarding where he was born and where he lived on enlistment. Cheers Richard
mmm45 Posted 22 January , 2009 Share Posted 22 January , 2009 Hi Richard 1/5th,2/5th were more Huddersfield way forum member Tony Lund may be able to help you that way I have researched a number of men from Cleck who found themselves in 2/5th though. The number itself 3900 is an early enlistment number As the MIC says he didnt deploy til after Jan 1916 so is probably 2/5th With 62nd Division who deployed early 1917. Ive checked my 1914 nominals for Cleckheaton and hes not amongst them.(they are mostly 1/4th and National Reserves with WRR) Ady
Paul Nixon Posted 22 January , 2009 Share Posted 22 January , 2009 Richard and Ady 3900 was issued later than 10th Feb, but earlier than 8th March 1915. Paul

harkerr@btinternet.com Posted 26 January , 2009 Author Share Posted 26 January , 2009 Just another thought on this man-does his Labour Corp number (617501) indicate what date he transferred into the corp? Richard
