Military Hospitals

I wonder if somebody could help me. I have a group photo that seems to have been taken outside of

a hospital showing a group of men recovering, along with staff (and a donkey and a dog).

The photo was taken by S. G. Griffiths of Haverford and Milford Haven, so I assume the hospital

was somewhere local to those areas.

I was wondering if anybody might be able to tell if there was a hospital in that area, or

perhaps identify the location from the photograph.

I was also wondering which uniforms the two older ladies are wearing (Red Cross?) and why

there is a donkey and a dog.

Hi Jonathan

I live between the two towns of Haverfordwest and Milford. I know of a few local hospitals in the area but sadly I'm lacking photographic evidence of most, I do have notes on the local Red Cross (of which the older ladies appear to be). A couple of places spring to mind looking at the blocked-up windows, but difficult to tell from the posted photo. One lad is wearing a khaki tunic, so perhaps a local recruit. I'll go through my notes and have a look for any reference to the elusive donkey.

cheers, Jon

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to this one. I have just managed to scan the image again and have sent you a PM/email.
