Hi I just got a trio of medals 1914/15 star War Medal Victory Medal . To Private W Woods s/n12069 Linc Regt. Ican find out nothing about him I am hoping that somone can help Thanking you all the best tours Inniskilling

Went to France on 14 July 1915 (making 1st or 2nd battalion most likely - i initially thought 7th or 8th Bn, but he arrived a few days too early for these)), ended the war as a member of the Labour Corps (numbered 52942) and was demobilized to Class Z reserve on 25th March 1919. First name was William.

Would have enlisted around the first week of Sept 1914. Possibly from Spalding, but I have too many gaps in my data around his service number to be sure.

Have to disagree with Dave; Woods was 7th battalion, original member, disembarking with the battalion at Boulogne from Folkestone on 14 Jul 1915 with all the other 7th lads.

Recorded in The Times as being wounded in the 14 Sep 1915, still with 7th Lincs so likely wounded in mid Aug 1915.
