Can you tell where someone was based by their regt. no.

If I have info from a MIC can I tell by there no. where they were based ? They were in RFA, a Gunner and lived in Birmingham area. Or where they would have signed up ? Thanks

Unfortunately the MIC is no help in this for an RFA men. For infantry men, the medal roll reference can be examined at Kew and should tell you which battalion they served with. However, the RFA rolls don't have their brigade listed. The only practical way you are going to track this man down is if his service papers still exist.

Thanks for your help but turns out he was the wrong man.....I have just found the right Alexander Roberts on the absent voters list. He was a rifleman in Rifle Brigade.
