brett361975 Posted 14 January , 2009 Author Share Posted 14 January , 2009 Thank you Mons Star, oddly I have a MM 14-15 trio to this man but the star is not listed on his Mic ? any suggestions?
MelPack Posted 14 January , 2009 Share Posted 14 January , 2009 Brett There is a possibility that the medal group has been 'made up'. The MIC clearly states entry in September 1916 which would correspond with the high TF number. I have searched the NA and LG and there is no traceable entry or separate MIC for the MM nor, indeed, a separate MIC for the Star. MelPack Posted 14 January , 2009 Share Posted 14 January , 2009 Brett For a few pounds it might be worth your while securing a copy of the SWB roll which would confirm a date of enlistment. When I checked the NA I only used the numbers to avoid the obvious possibility of a corruption of Mcdonald and the use of W rather than William. If the Star is bogus then it would have been skimmed and re-inscribed. It might be worthwhile posting a photo for the medal buffs to assess.
